I'm almost disappointed that I don't have a good story to tell! THAT is what this experience has done to me so far, ugh. Literally, I meet this nice, normal guy....who talks and pays for dinner and doesn't make odd comments, or try to weirdly touch me...and my thought walking away? "Hrm, no good story to tell about this one"
With that said, he was a nice guy, who lives near me, works as a journalist, likes to travel, prefers white wine to red (like me)...but I left with a question:
What do you do if you had a good time, but there was no "spark"? Or really, what constitutes a spark? I mean, I don't think I'm expecting love at first sight...but am i really at the point where just meeting a normal guys means an automatic second date? Actually, I gave Mr Sunglasses a chance...definitely need to try this guy again ;-)
Look forward to your thoughts...

So I'm dancing *boogie boogie*, feeling the beat and all that...and short man comes up. Now, I'm not judging the shortness (well, maybe just a bit)...BUT, it's the sneaky way he slides in between me and a friend and just latches on...like, no slowly inching in...but CLAMP, he's attached.
I give a "why me" look to my friend...and try to decide the best way to handle this...since I TRY not to be rude...but then suddenly my face is grabbed and there's a tongue coming at me! EW EW EW...and I frantically start flailing arms trying to escape...
Thankfully, my friend came to immediate rescue and removed Mr Tongue and we fled that dance location...I just wanted to send a warning to the ladies that there is a wild tongue out there on the loose!!

All right, all right…I’ve finally been bugged enough to write another entry (even bribed with cookies - Cave Cibum), though I admit I haven’t been on another date. You might be asking yourself “why hasn’t she been on another date?”…and I could answer that (though I’d wonder why I needed to)…but instead I’m going to tell you a story…
One day in early April I leave my office, and walk out into the sunshine. A nice looking gentleman walking by strikes up a conversation with me…we chat while walking to the metro…he offers his number and from there…we part ways…
Now, I, of course ask every possible person I’ve met in my entire life “should I call this guy?!” (some decisions should not be made on one’s own)…and pretty much 80% of people said “no, you shouldn’t…a guy should call the girl”. Of course I ignored that suggestion and called Mr Metro…
Instead of getting together immediately (as anyone would after talking to me for 10 minutes, duh)…we start emailing until he has some free time…then he starts texting. Now, you all know I’ve been pretty patient with the gentleman so far…(read some previous posts if you need some clarification!) but extreme texting annoys me. MAKE PLANS! I don’t need a modern penpal!! (especially one who writes “do you like older men” – what is this, email porn?”)
So it comes down to a Friday night text at 10:30pm from Mr Metro saying “what are you doing now?”…and really I got extremely annoyed (probably more from the fact that an accurate response would have been “sleeping until your text woke me!” then from the text itself)…but either way I didn’t respond…
Cut to a few days ago and WAM…an email from Mr Metro (YES the FIRST time I’d heard from him since that text!!!) - “hey, sorry I’ve been busy, I switched jobs…how are you? Want to get together?”
Does he really think that’s an acceptable email at this point? OR that he’s going to get a positive reply…um, no…

Thanks to Pam for the link!
Female point of view...
Male point of view...
Notice please that the woman's male dates were WEIRD, and the guy's female dates just "didn't click"....figures ;-)

There was some mix up in meeting (I'll leave that alone)...but eventually we found each other at the bar at which point he said he'd been ready to leave since he was sure I'd seen him earlier and chose to ignore him...(hmmm, why didn't you come say hi to me if you saw me?). Anyways, as i struggle to get the conversation started (i left my couch for this damn it!) he mentions being in sales, and i asked what he sells.
Mr. "I used to sell politically incorrect adult toys...guess what they were..."
Me "um, no that's okay, i think i get the picture"
Mr. "no no, guess, i want to see you blush"
Me "no really, i don't want to guess" (can I F-ing leave now?)
......continues in this vein for a bit...
...only to learn he sold guns...awesome...
As I struggle to not kill myself making conversation, he keeps making remarks about how I'm a trouble maker...(you try anything buddy and you have no idea)...and at one point he actually says:
Mr. "I'm going to have to tickle you, such a trouble maker"
Me "i really don't feel that you know me enough to touch me"...
Mr. *hands start to reach over*
Me *SMACK* hitting his hands away (seriously dude?)
Mr. "you're not being very fun" (yup, the anti-fun...that's me)
Me "i don't really prefer to be tickled in the middle of a bar"
Mr. *smirks* "well, i might just have to put you over my knee and spank you then" (WHAT?!?!)
Strangely at this point I got really tired and said it was time to go...but don't worry...he said he had a good feeling about me passing the "get to see him again" test, and he'd be in touch. Thank goodness I am such a lucky girl...

I'm going to sum up the evening with two moments:
1. During the previews, he turns to me and says "I haven't seen that movie" (uh, really?)
2. About 20 minutes into the date he mentions that he's already told his uncle about me, and that he'd made plans for "us" to borrow the beach house for a weekend this summer...(getting a bit ahead of yourself aren't you buddy?)
Just for some additional background, we'd emailed about twice before going out...he asked no actual questions during the hour we walked around before the movie started, and mentioned multiple times that he was "very well off" (strangely, I'm not looking to be supported currently)...i think Mr. TV will not be getting a second date...
P.S. Wondering about the "Mr. TV" name...well, in all his online pictures, he's posing with his flat screen TV...literally, about 5 pictures in different lighting with his TV...i know ;-)

Mr. Sunglasses and I had a fun first lunch (he kept his sunglasses on the whole meal, inside!), anyways then due to schedule conflicts couldn't get together again for a little over 2 weeks. We decided to meet for drinks later on in the evening since we were both busy with work. He was running about 25 minutes late, and this wasn't a problem but applies to the story later. He was rushed and asked if I minded if he ordered food, not at all...but as he goes to sit down his phone rings...and he excuses himself to answer it (hmmm?). He returns to badger the waitress about how they make their salads, and how she's not being very helpful, etc. As I smile at the waitress when she leaves...I am told (loudly), in his words "you are so F*cking rude"...hmm, temper issues?
Upon my shocked face he goes onto explain (with plenty of expletives) that the waitress and I were obviously making fun of him (um, what?)...as i respond with a (possibly tough) comment of "she was someone to talk to for 25 minutes while i waited for you"...he just got more and more agitate. He then says he's really busy and doesn't have much time tonight...(like i care at this point?!)...he proceeds to avoid eye contact and drink quickly...and I say I need to leave, he suddenly jumps up and says he'll call when he's back from a weekend trip (seriously buddy?)...and tries to go in for the hug. I (semi) smoothly side-step any contact I simply say best of luck with everything...and get out of there :-)
Not the worst date (by far)...but can't say I think Mr. Sunglasses is a winner...
I've set myself some rules:
1. I have to be active online at least 4-5 times a week (aka, make an effort)
2. I'll at least respond to anyone that emails me.
3. Unless I fear for my life (let's hope not!), I'll at least go on a first date (I get the feeling most of these stories will be first dates...)
Any other suggestions?
My mother has told me many times to get on-line and try...I'll need some feedback before I actually pass this site along to her to see if she still holds to that thought ;-)
Feel free to share some of your stories, and other feedback is welcome!
